Thank you for your interest in the Jobs for Kids – Youth Employment and Job Readiness Training Program (JFK). Our goal is to empower eligible youth, ages 14-18, to prepare for their future by obtaining valuable vocational skills and gain an appreciation for the connection between work and classroom learning. The program will allow youth to build a strong foundation of workplace competencies and discipline, develop a sense of pride, self -respect and acquire life-long skills.

The Jobs for Kids Program provides part-time paid work for youth in entry-level positions in various fields assisting local businesses and organizations throughout Los Angeles and surrounding areas. JFK is administered by the Holman Community Development Corporation (HCDC) and has been made possible through the generosity and concern of the members of HolmanUMC; corporate and community leaders who believe that the faith based community should actively provide opportunities for young people to develop their talents through education, training and productive work.

While it is our desire to place each young person in a job and provide them with workforce training, please know that it is not economically feasible to do so. The need for such a program in our community is high. Unfortunately, the funds and job market cannot meet such a high demand for work. Therefore, not everyone who completes an application will be placed in a job.

Program Eligibility:

  • Must be ages 14-18 and entering the 10th grade (if 14) or have just completed high school Must complete a work permit, if 17 years of age or under
  • If youth is 18 years old, a work permit is NOT needed
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or eligible non-citizen (resident alien registration card or valid INS document stamped, “Employment Authorized”)
  • Must be a current student attending high school and in good standing or have just graduated high school.
  • Must have a Social Security Card
  • Complete job application process
  • Successfully complete the interview process
  • Complete essay question on a separate sheet of paper (page 4). (Please submit the essay with your application) Return application by email or fax to 855-272-0969
